Soil Map
Once we receive the soil data back from the lab, we will create for you your personal soil maps that are customized for each field. You will receive a binder with each field compilation of 8 pages of valuable information. The first page you will receive is the boundary page. This page is important if a boundary had to be updated for tillable or non-tillable acreage. The boundary is the very first piece to
any application being done on your field, whether you’re doing it, or contracting the work out for someone else. The second page refers to soil type within your field. There can be a variety of soil types within one field, or a field could just have a few, depending on its location. This page is important if you have chosen to have your field sampled by soil type. The third page is management zones. This page is important if you are participating in precision agriculture. After determining what the soil types are, we break down the soil types into management zones. Within these zones is where we take the 6-8 samples from the soil type. Depending on factors such as cost, size of field, field management, etc., will determine how large you want your management zones to be. Our options for each management zone size are 1 acre, 2 acres, 2.5 acres, and 3 – 10 acres. The majority of our clients do either 2.5 acres or 5 acres by soil type. The fourth and fifth pages are CEC and Percent Base Saturation, respectively. These pages are made from data we receive from the lab. We take the lab data and insert the data into each management zone so it is easier for you to correlate the data with the management zones. Finally, the last three pages are application recommendations for Lime, MAP, and Potash. After you review the recommendations, we can tweak them to what you prefer. Then we can either send you the files to apply the recommendations, or send them to whomever contracts for you.
